One of the most important products you need for your thickness planer, aside from sharp planer blades, is a strong, stable base to use as a thickness planer stand.

The DEWALT Thickness Planer Stand will keep your thickness planer mobile while providing reliable support. This particular stand is made of heavy-gauge steel and MDF components that can support a lot of weight weight and minimize vibration. So when doing wood work you should have the best chances of making a good piece.

Buy a DeWalt Thickness Planer Stand

The MDF surface allows for easy securing the planer table. There are actually pre-drillled holes, but if you use a planer other than the Dewalt, then just drill a few more holes and bolt your planer on.

And there is a lower shelf that you can install (not shown in the image) to put other equipment or accessories.

The mobility of this thickness planer stand is great! There are wheels that you can engage by stepping on a foot pedal. This is a great feature to be able to move the equipment around your wood working shop- especially if you work out of your garage!

Now, if you have a large shop area with a location with a stable table to which you can attach your thickness planer and leave it there- then you probably dont need this movable planer table.

However, if you plan to move this equipment around, then you most definitely want a planer table for it.

Think about it- thickness planers are heavy equipment, the DeWalt 735 being one of the heaviest at close to 90 pounds!

If you have another type of planer, such as the DeltaTP305, then there is a Delta Portable Planer Stand that has Pre-Drilled Mounting Holes for 22-590 and TP305. So, since it is made for your machine, it might be smart to get this table.

Like the DeWalt, this delta planer table has a heavy duty frame and foot action locking casters.

Buy A Delta Thickness Planer Stand

Wood working machinery needs a stable support to avoid vibration and to provide a safe environment. A wood thickness planer has spinning cutter blades, its very heavy and generates some strong vibrations due to its rotating power- so having a stable thickness planer stand is critical.

These stable stands can also work as a joiner thicknesser table, but you should be sure the dimensions of your jointer fit on the table top. Of course you could also attach a slightly larger top to the stand to compensate for any planer table adjustments you may need for size discrepancies.

Keep in mind that if you purchase a new thickness planer, then sometimes there are specials going on and you get the planer stand for free- usually with a mail in rebate. So keep an eye out if you are buying new power wood working tools.

I found this book on Dust Control the other day and thought that I would pass it on to all of you.

It is very thorough and chalk full of information on dust control for your workshop. It explains everything from the different types of dust, to health hazards, to strategies of dust control. It will tell you about respiratory masks and ventilation, and it has a number of chapters dedicated solely to dust collector systems as well as hoods and other devices.

This is a very important factor in most shops, but if you have or are thinking about getting a thickness planer , this is something you really need to consider. With out a good control system, you will be standing up to your eyeballs in shavings!

Keep your wood shop free and clear of debris and shavings for safety, keeping your tools in proper condition and to prevent damage to your projects. A stray wood chip can damage a blade or mar your project stock as it is being tooled.

So follow this link to find out everything you need to now on Dust Control!
